Based on the 1612 play by John Webster, my interpretation of the Duchess of Malfi centres around a high-society Italian family: the founders of the Malfi fashion house. Designs for costumes and staging focus on aspects of modern-day couture fashion whilst also incorporating strong nods to the early 1500s silhouettes commonly seen in Italy during this period.
